BRITISH SUPERBIKE

Buildbase Suzuki

The Buildbase Suzuki team returns for another assault on the British Superbike Championship in 2019 after a solid year in 2018 that saw them notch wins in the Superbike and Superstock classes on GSX-R1000R machinery. Operated by the hugely experienced Hawk Racing outfit, the team will again field two riders in the British Superbike class and one in the National Superstock 1000 series.

Bradley Ray - who did the double at Donington Park last season - sticks with the team for a third consecutive season, and the youngster, who is widely regarded as one of the hottest talents in Britain right now, is setting his sights firmly on championship glory. So highly thought of is he, that he was given the opportunity to test Team Suzuki Ecstar’s GSX-RR MotoGP machine last year, and also joined Yoshimura Suzuki for the Suzuka 8-Hour and the final round of the Japanese Superbike Championship. He will be aiming to use that experience to add more wins and hopefully a championship to his name in 2019.

Richard Cooper, who won the final British Superbike race of 2018 in dominant fashion with a start-to-finish victory at Brands Hatch returns to the National Superstock 1000 Championship for 2019. Cooper - a former champion in the class - finished runner-up with Suzuki in 2017. The GSX-R1000R was again runner-up in 2018, and Cooper is also eyeing a championship this year as he looks to go one better.

For 2019, the Buildbase Suzuki team has recruited former British Supersport Champion and World Supersport contender Luke Stapleford, and he will partner Ray in the Superbike class. Despite it being Stapleford’s first season of Superbike racing, the Leicestershire rider has prior Superbike experience after making wildcard appearances in the championship in previous years. He is also no stranger to the Hawk Racing team, having made his debut in the British paddock with the Mallory Park-based outfit. Ambition is high, and he is aiming to learn quickly and get to the front of the field and challenge for wins this year.
