NEW 2015 SUZUKI GIXXER CUP LAUNCHES IN INDIA

The opening round of the 2015 Suzuki Gixxer Cup successfully got underway at the Kari Motor Speedway circuit in Coimbatore, India at the weekend with a full line-up of riders and exciting racing throughout its two classes.

The new one-make Suzuki series comprises two categories: Novice (under 23 years of age) and Open (over 23 years of age) with each class having two races per round.

New to their machines for the first day, a total of 40 riders set out in two batches (Novice & Open) for practice sessions, followed by their feedback to Suzuki’s technical team who prepared all the 150cc Gixxer SF machines and then worked to make individual adjustments for all riders.

Sunday’s racing provided great entertainment to the enthusiastic spectators with a total of four main races. And being a one-make series, all riders began on a level playing field and this made for some very close and exciting racing.

Round two of the Suzuki Gixxer Cup is scheduled for July 10-12th at the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai.

Novice Race 1 (10 laps): 1. Amarnath Menon 14:16:653, 2. Vishwadev Muraleedharan +1.351s, 3. Malsawmdawngliana +5.576.
Best Lap: Amarnath Menon 1:23:682 (90.3kmph).

Novice Race 2 (10 laps): 1. Amarnath Menon 14:14:499, 2. Malsawmdawngliana +0.807, 3. Sreejith PR +6.118.
Best Lap: Malsawmdawngliana 1:23:728 (90.3kmph).

Open Race 1 (10 laps): 1. Abhishek V 13:59:556, 2. Ananth Raj P +2.323, 3. Akash Prasad Dingare +11.550.
Best Lap: Mathana Kumar S 1:22:491 (91.6kmph).

Open Race 2 (10 laps): 1. Abhishek V 13:56:852, 2. Mathana Kumar S +3.564, 3. Akash Prasad Dingare +17.093.
Best Lap: Mathana Kumar S 1:22:482 (91.7kmph).
